Getting the Ring
So we went to the mall, to pick out an engagement ring. Me, I like
sapphires. This was good news for Matt, who paid for the ring, because
sapphires are a lot less expensive than diamonds. Especially for
engagement rings, which seem to me to be marked up absurdly. Anyway, we went to
the mall. Right in the center of the mall are four jewelery stores, all facing
each other across a small fountain. And we dashed into Zales. And I looked for a bit, and saw a ring I
liked, and the saleslady pulled it out of the case for us, and we asked about
the time it would take to get it sized, and the cost, and that sort of thing.
Matt's Brain: She likes it! Let's buy it now!
Liz's Brain: I like it, but I'm only ever going to have one of these,
and I want to make sure it's perfect.
So I dragged Matt, in the very act of handing his credit card to the saleslady
(Zaleslady?), off to look at the rings in the other three stores. And
naturally... Oh, go on and guess... We bought the first ring; an oval sapphire
(I don't know the name of the cut) flanked on either side by three marquis-cut
diamonds.
Really, I'm not usually like that!
