Well, I'm feeling pretty good about life. The house is
coming along at a decent pace. Liz and I met her parents for lunch
and they had stopped by the house on the way over and apparently the
builder has started to put the electrical boxes and conduits in.
Whee!! Also, I got someone with a full mouthful of soda to do a spit
take (none up the nose, just straight out) at a joke I made today,
and that's put a smile of pure joy on my cherubic countenance.
Well, I got another one of those personal surveys in the mail again,
and I'm not responding to it. I don't think I'm quite fascinating
enough for people to get one of those from me every 4 or 5 months or
so, but I figure if I respond to it and post it here, hey! I'll have
an entry.
So, without further ado....
NAME: Matthew Christopher Brooks
BIRTHDATE: November 27, 1973
SEX: Male-o-rama
HOME: Williamsburg, VA
HEIGHT: 6' 2"
HAIR COLOR: light brown/dark blond. Whatever.
YOUR FAVORITE SHOW: Crusade, while it lasts, I guess.
WHAT'S ON YOUR MOUSE PAD: Little fuzzy bits. It's just a plain
blue mouse pad.
FAVORITE BOARD GAME: Board game? Funny you should ask. I
like a fair number of board games. The problem is that once I start
playing one, and start winning, I get a little silly with the game.
I get downright obnoxious in Monopoly, buying Get Out Of Jail Free cards
off of people, etc. Then the gods of that board game are made wroth
against me, and I start losing. Horribly. And after that, I really
don't want to play the board game anymore for a while. So, I guess
my favorite board game would be the one I haven't played in the longest,
which right now I think is Sorry.
FAVORITE MAGAZINE: I like National Geographic lots. It's got
glossy pages and purty maps. Although the maps seem to have gone
downhill lately. Well, the quality of the maps is still superb.
But they've sort of run out of topics lately, so I'm getting
maps of the world's culture history now. It's... different.
FAVORITE SMELL: Cut grass.
WORST FEELING IN THE WORLD: That sinking feeling when you
realize that you've just really screwed up.
BEST FEELING IN THE WORLD: The instant of success, the Eureka
moment. The second that you figure out the problem, solve the puzzle,
or just flat out get it.
FAVORITE THINGS TO DO ON WEEKENDS: Goof around on the computer,
game with friends, sleep in.
FAVORITE BAND(S): R.E.M. and the Squirrel Nut Zippers.
WHAT'S THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING:
Open my eyes. I've found it helps.
DO YOU GET MOTION SICKNESS: Not yet.
PEN OR PENCIL: Uniball Micros, black ink. Available in packs of
20 at Sam's Club.
HOW MANY RINGS BEFORE YOU ANSWER THE PHONE: One and a half. I
always try to answer the phone mid-ring so someone near another phone
will know it's been picked up.
FUTURE SON'S NAME/FUTURE DAUGHTER's NAME: We're not planning on
having any children.
FAVORITE FOODS: Steak. Bacon. Cherries. The chili at the
Texas Inn Tea Room.
DO YOU SLEEP WITH STUFFED ANIMALS?: Nope.
THUNDERSTORMS-COOL OR SCARY: Cool, unless I'm out in an open
field carrying 8' long metal tent poles. Then scary.
WHAT TYPE OF CAR WAS YOUR FIRST CAR?: 1979 Ford Ltd. II.
IF YOU COULD MEET ONE PERSON, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD IT BE:
Jim Henson.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE BOOK?: Uh... got me. Lots of books have
really caught my attention at various times, but none of them has
established itself as the all-dominant, favorite book of all time.
IF YOU COULD MEET YOUR FAVORITE STORYBOOK CHARACTER, WHO WOULD IT
BE?: Uh... I'll be geeky and say Hiro Protagonist.
DO YOU EAT THE STEMS OF BROCCOLI: I'll warily eat broccoli caps if
they're soaked in Chinese food juice. Broccoli stems aren't close to
palatable.
GUYS-IF A GIRL ASKED FOR THE SHIRT OFF YOUR BACK, WOULD YOU GIVE IT
TO HER?: It's situational. Random girl off the street though? Um,
probably not.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY JOB YOU WANTED, WHAT WOULD IT BE:
Billionaire aristocrat.
IF YOU COULD DYE YOUR HAIR ANY COLOR, WHAT WOULD IT BE: I'm
content with the nondescript color it is now.
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE: Yup.
WHAT IS ON THE WALLS OF YOUR BEDROOM: Some fantasy art and a
photo of Liz and I when we first started dating. (yes, I copied this
text straight from Liz's letter and changed a few words around so it
fit. Sosumi.
FAVORITE MOVIE: The Fisher King.
ARE YOU A RIGHTY, LEFTY, OR AMBIDEXTROUS: Righty, but I've
always thought it'd be neat to be ambidextrous.
DO YOU TYPE WITH YOUR FINGERS ON THE CORRECT KEYS: Except when
I make typos.
WHAT'S UNDER YOUR BED: The floor. I think. I haven't checked
in a while.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE NUMBER: Pi.
WHAT IS YOUR DREAM CAR: I don't have one. Does it get me from
point A to point B without threatening to break down or suffer a
mechanical failure? It's fine with me! You want me to gush specs,
model numbers, and features about something? Ask me what my dream
computer is.
FAVORITE SPORT TO WATCH: Basketball, but I really only like to
watch games where I have a distinct preference for one of the two
teams.
Well, that's all for today. So long!
