Well, that's me over there on the side. After a more thought than
was probably needed on the topic, I decided to put up a personal
picture, despite what my
friend Jeff thinks about people putting up pictures of
themselves on their homepages. Owing to the fact that I've
graduated from the College of
William and Mary in May '96, and that picture was
taken of me freshman year (caption: "Matt in a suit!
Quick, DOCUMENT IT!"), it's not wholly accurate. Wanna-be
stalkers, take note of that. Liz is after me
to get a more current picture scanned and put up, but I'm
procrastinating. Eventually I will. Honest.
Again, seems a little explanation is needed. I have a homepage.
Shouldn't that suffice as a site to put up things I'm interested
in? Well, it could. Depends on what you're thinking about when you write
up a homepage. I wanted the "main" page to be a sort of gateway to all my
sub-pages, basically so that if someone came to look a page I had written
that they thought was neat, they didn't have to wait for my picture to
load before they could click off to somewhere more inviting. That 'STOP'
button can be awfully tempting from time to time. ;-)
Anyway. Here is where you'll find little bits of information
about me, as well as some links that I thought were neat but
wasn't sure where to put anywhere else. Setting wrong things
right and hoping that the next page, will be the page home Yeah, when I was watching
TV Quantum
Leap was a show I missed rarely. Then I went to college.
Go figure.
So . . . about me. I was born on November 27, 1973 in Evanston,
Illinois, which is just north of Chicago. I lived in Barrington,
Illinois, until I left for college. Yes, that includes high
school. My sister is currently attending Miami of Ohio, and my brother is at
Purdue. My parents
are currently "separated", and I'm not exactly the
cheeriest person on the whole topic, but it's the truth, so
I might as well mention it here. I've graduated with a B.A.
in English from the College
of William and Mary, where I worked at Technology Services. After
that I enjoyed a well-remembered stint as a Tech Support guy
here at Widomaker
Communication Services, Inc.. I'm currently a computer programmer for
a company whose name I'd rather not mention in case I decide to grouse and
gripe about work somewhere on these pages. And this last April, I
got married!
For all my four years at the College, I was a member of the (take a
deep breath if you're reading along at home) William and Mary Science Fiction
and Fantasy Fan Club. After we lost a few members to asphyxiation, we
took to calling the club "Sciffy", or "Skiffy." It sounds like the last,
but the first makes more sense etymoligically, so we decided to avert a
jihad and just not care which spelling was used. BTW, for anyone
objecting to the usage of new and unusual words in this page, my
English degree gives me the right to create new and useful words
as I see fit, so nyah. ;-)
I'm currently playing in a Greyhawk game, and having quite a bit of fun,
When I do run games, though,
these are my house rules. I'm also a Patron and
an HM on the Meade Hall. In
any case these are gaming sites that are well worth the trip.
I'm quite thoroughly a geek. I say that with pride, because I think
it is something to be proud of, so there. ;-) Every time I get
irritating form e-mail, mass submissions, or have to sift through spam, I
get *that* much closer to writing that program that takes a text file and
writes out the same text file, but backwards. Someday.... ;-)
Anyway, I've decided that the next computer I'm gonna get is going to be a
Mac. Windows95 was more than one nail in an already mostly closed coffin
for the Wintel platform, as far as I'm concerned. And with my background
of a couple years in technical support and computer programming, I have
some damn good reasons why I'm not shelling out real money for that
patchwork OS. For a few "geeky" sites, try visiting either
Geek Site of the
Day, or Robert Hayden's Geek Code
Page. For the truly curious, my geek code is
available here.
One of the few television shows I've been watching with any regularity
lately (watching at all, come to think of it) has to do with the Muppets. I've also gotten
thoroughly hooked on Babylon 5.
And for a completely different tone, one of my favorite movies is The Crow. My all time
favorite movie is the Fisher King, but I haven't found a site dedicated to
that yet... When it comes to my sense of humor, let's just say I was very
happy when I found out Callahan had a Web site.
Well, that's all I can think of for right now. If you wanna chat, just mail me! Or, if you can find me, feel free to drop on by... ;-)
